Intro Before I started to write this post, I thought that it would be nice to say some word about PPTP VPN and Mikrotik RouterOS, but then I realized that if you are reading this, there is no need to explain what is PPTP VPN server or Mikrotik RouterOS. DRAFT Document revision 15-May-2002 This document applies to the MikroTik RouterOS V2.5 Overview The MikroTik RouterOS has the following bandwidth management features: Queues, which can be set for certain traffic flows, are discussed in the current manual; Connection speed setting for PPPoE connections, see the PPPoE Interface Manual. Queuing is a mechanism that controls bandwidth allocation, delay variability, timely delivery, and delivery reliability. The MikroTik RouterOS supports the following queuing mechanisms: PFIFO - Packets Packet First-In First-Out, BFIFO - Bytes First-In First-Out, RED - Random Early Detection SFQ - Stochastic Fair Queuing The queuing can be used for limiting the bandwidth for certain IP addresses, protocols or ports.
